In recognition of the pivotal role poetry plays within the society and undeniable impact of literary creativity on attainment of Freedom, Poets in Nigeria (PIN) is delighted to declare October Month of Freedom and Creativity.

Coincidentally, the month of October is earmarked for celebration of Nigeria’s independence and Poets in Nigeria’s 2nd year anniversary. In light of this notable events, poetry, an inexhaustible tool for creating socio-cultural consciousness, upholding human rights and freedom, would be made a national cynosure all through October via special poetry readings organized across all PIN Connect Centres in the country.

While acquainting literary stakeholders in Lagos with this new development, the President of PIN, Eriata Oribhabor said, “Literary creativity is a potent tool for the realization of both individual and collective freedom. And, undeniably, poetry has always been central to the pursuit of human rights, dignity and freedom – a feat PIN intends to project all through October.”
